Each year, Fallen Officers and their families are honored at National Police Week. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. The National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum is located in Washing DC and holds ceremonies, including an Annual Candlelight Vigil, to honor the Fallen Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting their community and keeping their citizens safe. Each year, names of recent Fallen Officers are added to the Memorial.

One of our missions as The Bellaire Police Officers’ Association is to always make sure our Fallen Officers and their families are represented at the Memorial each year. We send 2 BPOA members to this event and provide full cost of travel and lodging. We rely on your donations to provide this very important remembrance and honor for the Bellaire Police Department Fallen Officers.
